Christmas Time

Christmas was really great for our little family this year. The kids got their traditional pajamas from Daddy on Christmas Eve. I had them stand in front of the tree for a picture after they donned their new duds:

Kylee is an old hand at the gift opening, and she couldn't get to them quick enough. Luckily, the past few days have shown us she actually does enjoy her gifts, cause she wouldn't even look at them on Christmas once the wrapping was off.

Aedan is at the point where he is just figuring out this present stuff. He had a hard time wanting to leave the toys for another mystery blob of paper. But we eventually got all his goods opened, and he is really fun to watch...even when he's busy fighting with Kylee over her princess tea set!

The party with my family was the Saturday before Christmas, and the kids got an exciting visit from Santa. Kylee and I have been preparing for Santa's visit for the last few weeks so she wouldn't be scared, and she did awesome! As the other kids were getting their gifts from Santa, Kylee stood by his side, patiently waiting for her turn. You could just see her anticipation each time Santa pulled a package out of his bag, only to be disappointed when it wasn't hers. I finally gave Grandma Kathy a nudge, and we made sure Ky's gift was next out of the bag. After the gifts were done, the big cousins all piled on Santa in a bear hug to say thanks. After they were done, Kylee worked her way to Santa to give him her own sweet hug. She can be so nice sometimes! :-)

Aedan wasn't nearly as impressed with Santa. He snatched his gift quick as he could and backed out of Santa's reach. He kinda teased Santa for a minute, getting closer and closer. I finally snatched him and put him on Santa's lap to see how he would do, and it did not work! He freaked out and promptly escaped with his gift.

The McDermott party was Christmas Day. We ended up being an hour late after digging our car out of a nasty snow drift by Grandma & Grandpa McBride's house, so I didn't even bother to bring in my camera. I was tired, wet, cold, and pretty disgusted at that point! Hopefully some of the other family photographers will share their pics with us. The kids were excited when they got to hear their cousins play Christmas music on their instruments, including a guitar, flute, and a violin, plus Grandma "Dermott" on the piano. They both love music, so it was really fun for them.

All in all, our Christmas was a lot of fun, but I'm sure glad it's over!
